Pre-Panic Period

Biggest news of the week: I got a job!
I almost fainted in shock when I got the call the morning after my interview. It's only in my local Asda but hey, my first job, I felt on top of the world.
The interview actually wasn't bad. I was freaking out because it was my first interview in two decades, I've never held a job before so any experience is limited, and I had no idea what to expect. But it went quite well; the people also being interviewed were so lovely and we had little team-building exercises, a five minute one-to-on interview and it was over!
So I'm on a one-day contract where I basically work one day a week and I'm placed in George which works perfectly for me because it's not only a good balance with my uni life but I get experience in retail, customer service and also checkouts. Suffice to say it made my week.
As did being back at uni. I'm only half-kidding. I'm loving being back because I've missed my friends and a routine involving real work, but the prospect of my final year is daunting as hell. When I think about the months ahead and the amount of work that I'm going to be buried in, my stress and panic levels escalate dangerously high so I've decided to block off any thoughts headed in that direction and instead take each day at a time. We'll see how long that lasts.
Although I did have my first meeting with my supervisor today and I feel a bit better; I'm beyond lucky that he's super nice and he has a structure lined up for me with sessions where he's going to cover little sections of knowledge so I seem to be in safe hands. Fingers crossed. I'm excited to get into it because my topic ("Stem Cells; Fact or Fiction?) is just so fascinating and honestly, enjoying what you're researching and talking about is half the job done. Or so I hope.
On the uni note - University of Leicester have been ranked in the top 1% of the universities in the world (2014-2015). So proud!
In completely other news, for the first time ever I had the kitchen to myself, and I succeeded in making macarons. Ahhhh my excitement is unreal. Seriously, they are so damn fiddly to pipe perfectly (making the mixture is so easy) but I somehow got the hang of it and now I'm dying to ice them tomorrow. I'll post pictures of them when they're complete alongside any other pictures I have of our Eid goodies.
There's so much going on that I haven't even had the time or a clear mind to focus on uni work or planning out my year. I'm putting it off till Monday.
I hope I don't regret it.
