My First Motorway Driving Experience
23:09
Yep, I did it!
I drove on the motorway for the first time yesterday and it was simultaneously the most terrifying and exhilarating highlight of my weekend trip. It's honestly ten times easier than driving around the city. And credit to my dad, he's an unbelievably brilliant instructor so I (partially) owe it to him that I got everybody to Bolton alive and in one piece.
I don't really know why I hopped on to the family-trip bandwagon when I had no purpose for going and all the ladies had a shopping trip planned but the whole family were making a weekend of it and even though I had to get back for work today, I guess a break is a break right? Wrong. It was an agonising afternoon. I mean, shopping is bad enough anyway but mix that up with a crowd of women all out looking for flashy desi clothes (we have a family wedding coming up) and you have a lethal combination. I was left with aching feet, sore eyes and a banging headache. It probably didn't help that I had been working Friday night and had a late night followed by a very early morning so by the end of the afternoon, I was already feeling zombie-like.
Our evening was admittedly pretty awesome though. The cousins went to Wilmslow Road in Manchester where we had a fab meal at Jelanis (definite recommendation for any of you going to be in Manchester any time soon - you won't regret it) and then we headed off to Gelato Passion where we had these scrumptious desserts without a care in the world of the diabetes we were casually accumulating. Chilled Saturday nights are just the ones.
And then we headed back to Bolton before setting off for Leicester again so by the time we got back, it was 3:30am and I had work today. Thank God for time change. I don't think I was functioning well (if at all); I was on the tills right, and it was my first time ever on one so I mean, I'm going to be rusty at the damn job, but then I had this customer (I was about to call her a patient. Awks) and she was just so horrible to me. I was genuinely about to burst into tears.
Otherwise it's all good! Haha I got over it and focused on the really lovely customers who bless them, are always dishing out compliments and encouraging me that I'm doing a good job. And I was bound to encounter my first dodgy customer sometime or another.
I can't keep my eyes open. They're literally closing on me so I'm going to end this post, log off and hit the pillow. And may even skip tomorrow's lecture.
Don't judge me.
